Operations Assistant Required!
The team at Flying Pig and Elstree Helicopters are looking for a highly-organised individual to start as an Operations Assistant as soon as possible.
Flying Pig and Elstree Helicopters are a small, family-run flying school based at Elstree Aerodrome in Hertfordshire with a fun, enthusiastic and ambitious culture and big plans for the future!
We are looking for someone flexible with demonstrable work experience using the following skills:
IT – using Microsoft ad Google Packages such as Office, Outlook and Calendar as well as ad hoc maintenance and upkeep of IT equipment
Organisation – prioritising workloads, working towards business-critical deadlines, accurate filing, using initiative and scrupulous attention-to-detail
Numeracy & Invoicing –assisting with costings and invoicing
Customer Service & Communication –providing first-class customer service across all mediums of communication as well as being comfortable with face to face sales
Practical – a willingness to participate in practical maintenance tasks as well as some outdoor Ground Operations tasks
The Operations Assistant will be responsible for (but not limited to):
Assisting the Head of Training with the upkeep, scheduling and maintenance of each helicopter, costings and invoicing as well as hands-on, practical day-to-day fleet and IT maintenance
Ad hoc office duties such as stock checks, reception cover, call handling and face to face sales
Customer check-ins and performing Safety Briefings (Training will be provided)
Providing a safe, fun and smooth Ground Handling experience (Airside training will be provided)
Other ad hoc duties requested by the Office Manager or Directors directly
This role will provide an exciting and wide range of duties for a willing, flexible and personable individual.
Although compulsory training will be provided for airside and fleet maintenance duties we are looking for someone with a similar background having worked in a varied role for a small to medium enterprise (using a combination of office and practical skills).
Although Aviation experience is preferred we will strongly consider someone with a keen interest in rotorcraft or the industry in general.
We are advertising this role with a view of offering full-time hours: Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5.30pm.
Although we have dedicated weekend staff employed to look after operations on Saturdays and Sundays you may be required to work the occasional weekend day in the event of an Open Day or to cover leave/sickness gaps.
Please note that the office location is based on-site at Elstree Aerodrome which is not serviced by public transport – because of this the ideal candidate will be a driver of their own vehicle or have reliable access to a bicycle if living within a 5 mile radius.

Weekend Receptionist also Required!
We are also looking for someone enthusiastic and self motivated to meet and greet our students and customers coming in for their helicopter flight experience; take their details, check them in and then show them the photographs taken after their flight.
The candidate will be responsible for keeping track of customers during their time with us, to aid the Ground Handlers who will look after their safety.You may also be required to Ground Handle once fully trained – this involves accompanying customers to and from the helicopter and taking photographs.
We are looking for someone with attention to detail and good IT skills (we use Google calendar, Microsoft word, PowerPoint and Excel) as amendments may need to be made to pre-prepared flying schedules, certificates personalised, invoices created for purchases made, photos shown and printed/transferred onto USB sticks.
We are looking for someone with an outgoing, friendly personality, a can do attitude; someone who will think on their feet!
There are safety implications working on an airfield so common sense is a must and a First Aid certificate a bonus.
The flying school is a fun place to work, but can be very busy so you must be able to work well under pressure; all our customers are happy to be here so it can be very rewarding seeing customer dreams come true!
It is a family run business and we are looking forward to someone new coming to join our team.Full training will be provided.
This is a weekend position so you must be available to work on Saturdays/Sundays. Working hours are seasonal, typically 8.15am to 5.15pm, but they are governed by weather and sunset times.
